2009 Halloween Pumpkin Contest

For those who would shy away from maxing out your Fishing skill, fear not; we also have a pumpkin-carving contest! In a longstanding Blizzard tradition, this year will see our seventh annual pumpkin-carving contest take place.

The most creative, original, and well-designed pumpkins from the Warcraft, StarCraft, or Diablo game universes will be awarded with glittering prizes. From 12:00 a.m. PDT on October 13 through 11:59 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, October 28, we will be accepting submissions for our 2009 Halloween Pumpkin Contest.

Competition in this contest is always fierce; check out 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 to get an idea of what you're up against. And, just to make things interesting, this year you're competing for some elite loot:

The top five winning submissions to the Blizzard Pumpkin Carving Contest will each win their very own 32 GB iPod touch. A special thanks to Apple for these prizes, and good luck to all contestants!

Winners will also have the picture that they submitted displayed in association with their World of Warcraft character name, on the World of Warcraft website located at www.worldofwarcraft.com and www.blizzard.com.

Judging will be done by the World of Warcraft team. Remember, your pumpkin must be lit in the submission picture in order to qualify. Submissions from past years are ineligible. Click the Submit button below to check out the official rules and submission form, and may the best pumpkins win!

Pumpkin Submission Tips

  • The winning entries will display high levels of originality, craftsmanship, and possibly humor.
  • Your pumpkin must be lit up by a candle or other light source in your photo entry. You can show another photo of the pumpkin unlit if you wish.
  • Pumpkins must be related to World of Warcraft or another Blizzard Entertainment title.
  • Try to take the best picture possible, as picture quality helps make a good impression on the judges.
  • Make sure you tell us what the pumpkin is supposed to be in the caption, just in case it's not clear.
